ALLEMAGNE :: Germany - Call for Abstracts: Meeting of Materials Scientists in Africa
Young scientists who are conducting research in the field of cement and concrete construction technology are called to apply for an expert symposium on June 8 to 12 in Tansania.
The three-part lecture series KEYS (Knowledge Exchange for Young Scientists) focuses on research in raw materials, quality control, concrete technology and sustainability of cement and concrete production. The first part of the three-year series is held from 8th - 12th June 2015 in Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. The symposia are designed to provide young scientists as well as established experts from Africa and Germany a common platform for the exchange.
A future-oriented collaboration between Africa and Germany is one of the key objectives. Die BAM BThe BAM Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing organises the series of symposia in conjunction with the University of Dar es Salaam, the University of Ghana (Accra) and the University of the Witwatersrand (Johannesburg). The Volkswagen Foundation supports the events in the context of its funding initiative "Cooperative Research Projects in sub-Saharan Africa". More information about the series of events and how to apply can be found on the website of the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing.
Due to the growth of population worldwide the global development of infrastructure is necessary. Matching technologies and standards, innovative measures, and the use of alternative and individually appropriate materials belong to the important means to save high energy costs in the production and application of the world's most widely used construction material: cement. In developed countries, there are already solutions
