NON AUX VIOLATIONS DES LIBERTES FONDAMENTALES! Interdiction du Meeting du Social Democratic Front (SDF)

DECLARATION LIMINAIRE

Le Réseau des Défenseurs des Droits Humains en Afrique Centrale (REDHAC) dit non aux violations constantes des libertés fondamentales perpétrées par les autorités camerounaises .

Si le Cameroun est un Etat de Droit, les autorités ne peuvent se permettre de bafouer à tout moment les droits des citoyens à manifester. Elles ont plutôt l’obligation d’encadrer ces manifestations.

Le REDHAC condamne fermement cette décision et appelle les autorités à laisser les activistes et les défenseurs des droits humains à œuvrer dans un espace civique libre et indépendante. Sinon, le REDHAC tiendra pour responsable le sous-préfet de Douala Ierde toute forme de violences qui sera observée demain dans le cadre de la manifestation pacifique organisée par le SDF.

Aussi le REDHAC soutient cette marche et appelle le peuple Camerounais à se retrouver demain pour qu’ensemble on apporte notre solidarité aux familles des victimes des régions du Nord-Ouest et du Sud-Ouest et qu’on exige la libération immédiate et sans conditions de toutes les personnes arrêtées dans le cadre de cette crise, ainsi qu’un dialogue inclusif.

Ceci conformément aux articles 6: "Droit à la liberté et à la sécurité de la personne"; 9: "Droit à l'information et liberté d'expression"; 10: «Droit à la liberté d'association», 11: «Droit à la liberté de réunion» de la Charte Africaine des Droits de l'Homme et des Peuples et aux articles 9: «Droit à la liberté et à la sécurité de la personne»; 19: "Droit à la liberté d'expression et d'opinion"; 21: "Droit à la liberté de réunion"; 22: «Droit à la liberté d'association» du Pacte International Relatif aux Droits Civils et Politiques (PIDCP) des Nations Unies.

L’Etat du Cameroun est signataire de la Charte Africaine des Droits de l’Homme et des Peuples et a ratifié le Pacte International Relatif aux Droits Civils et Politiques, en tant que pays membre des Nations Unies.

NO TO THE VIOLATIONS OF FUNDAMENTAL FREEDOMS!

Prohibition of the Meeting of the Social Democratic Front (SDF)

INTRODUCTORY STATEMENT

The Central Africa Human Rights Defenders Network (REDHAC) says no to the constant violations of the fundamental freedoms perpetrated by the Cameroonian authorities.

If Cameroon is based on the Rule of Law, the authorities cannot afford to infringe at any moment the rights of citizens to demonstrate. Instead, they have an obligation to regulatethesedemonstrations.

REDHAC strongly condemns this decision and calls on the authorities to allow activists and human rights defenders to work in a free and independent civic space. Otherwise, REDHAC will hold the Sub-prefect of Douala I responsible for any form of violence that will be observed tomorrow in the framework of the peaceful demonstration organized by the SDF.

Also REDHAC supports this march and calls on the Cameroonian people to reunite tomorrow so that together we can bring solidarity to the families of the victims of the Northwest and Southwest regions and demand the immediate and unconditional release of all those arrested in connection with this crisis, as well as an inclusive dialogue.

This is in accordance with Articles 6: "Right to liberty and security of person"; 9: "Right to information and freedom of expression"; 10: "Right to freedom of association", 11: "Right to freedom of assembly" of the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights and articles 9: "Right to Freedom and Security of the person" ; 19: "Right to freedom of expression and opinion";

21: "Right to freedom of assembly"; 22: "Right to freedom of association" of the United Nations International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).

The State of Cameroon is a signatory to the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights and has ratified the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights as a member of the United Nations.
